These videos not seen on TV are quite interesting. The first few remind me of the ones my children watch on YouTube. Yet, these are quite different, we must consider that these videos were made many years ago when technology was not as easy to use as it is now. These videos do not appeal to me because I am not used to these types of videos. My brain is so programed to make sense of everything, that videos like: Three Transitions, Devo Jacko, Ascension of Bill Viola, Pipilotti Rist seem to me like music videos. I do recognize the art in them like the men submerged in water and slowly ascending out of it. It takes a lot of effort to make videos like this, especially when they were made years ago with less gadgetry. Therefore, my choice had to be the one that made more sense to me, which was Re-enactment. 

I do not want to say this is a more common kind of video, but it is. We are used to action movies and these kinds of senses. The difference is that this video was an authentic video of something that happened in real life. First, it is interesting to learn how easy it is to get a gun. Then, for this man to freely walk on the streets with a loaded gun. Tha is just mind blowing! I was on the edge of my seat waiting for him to fire at someone, just because they looked at him wrong. It is amazing how many people walked by him and only two or three noticed what he had in his hand. This is common in a big city where all the people are in a rush and just minding their own business. 

Another interesting point of this video is that in the reenactment the same thing happened. Very few people noticed the strange man walking on the streets with a loaded gun in his hand. Francis Alys and Rafael Ortega are trying to make a point of how is easy and common is for a man to carry a gun on the streets. It wants us to think of how every day we are out and about, and the danger can be walking next to us. In this case it might make you think of how selfish we all are. We are busy in our lives that if a gunman walks by us as long as he is going somewhere else, I am fine with it. I can just go on my merry way and disregard the man. This is how we are as a busy society, in our little world and only a few are wide awake to notice things like this. In this clip there was not a brave person to take him down and disarm him. Well, the video is not about a hero saving the day as we are accustomed to watching. Nevertheless, there was someone that did call the police and let them know that this guy had a gun in his hand. 

We can compare this video to poetry. This could be from a scene that we can read about in a book. It seems like it is part of a work but not a work on its own. We are so used to having a story with a beginning, middle and end. Also, a plot a drama, this video does give us a sense of calamity that the viewer just imagines. The last part where he is finally apprehended is the climax of the story, but we are left questioning ourselves what this man’s true intentions were.
